DUE TO THE PANDEMIC, CHILDREN WERE NOT ABLE TO COME TOGETHER, SO SOME INSTRUCTORS MET WITH SMALL GROUPS (6 OR LESS) TO CONTINUE THEIR EDUCATION WHILE THE SCHOOLS WERE SHUT DOWN. A TOTAL OF OVER 400 CHILDREN WERE TAUGHT THREE TIMES PER WEEK THROUGHOUT THE YEAR ALONG WITH NON-REGISTERED BROTHERS AND SISTERS. AS OF JANUARY 2023, OVER 1000 PREVIOUSLY OUT OF SCHOOL CHILDREN IN THE REFUGEE STATEMENT ARE NOW ENROLLED IN FORMAL GOVERNMENT SCHOOLS, AND HAVE STARTED THEIR PERSONAL EDUCATIONAL JOURNEY AS A RESULT OF OUR SOMA SOMA PROGRAM (READ-READ OR STUDY-STUDY IN SWAHILI).
