Grants and in-kind donations valued at $2,000 to USA and Canada nonprofit children's organizations and schools to create an educational bee hive program for K-12 students. Applicants must submit a preliminary application prior to applying. Funding is intended to provide students with opportunities to observe bees up close and learn about the vital role these pollinators play in our food system.

1. Monetary Grant of $1,500: To support the success of an educational bee program along with educational materials.

  • Custom made Indoor Observation Hive from The Bee Cause Project - Frames included

  • Educational materials
3. Equipment Grant – Outdoor Traditional Langstroth Hive:
  • Outdoor traditional Langstroth Hive  - Frames included
  • $300 monetary grant to support hive maintenance and incidentals for the first year

Estimated Size of Grant:

Four grant options:

1. Monetary Grant of $1,500
2. Observation hive: equipment grant of a custom-made indoor observation hive from The Bee Cause Project.
3. Traditional Langstroth Hive: equipment grant an outdoor hive with Starter Kit
4. Top Bar Hive: equipment grant of an outdoor top bar hive with Starter Kit

All equipment grants include a small monetary grant of $300 to cover the first year of expenses. Grant recipients also receive remote consultation and assistance with Beekeeper partnership from The Bee Cause Project.

Additional Eligibility Criteria:

1. Applicant must be a non-profit school or non-profit children’s programming organization that works with students in the grade range kindergarten thru 12th grade.
2. The grant award must be used to support bee education for students.
3. The principal or executive director must be aware of and supportive of the bee program.
4. A knowledgeable beekeeper (or appropriate bee educator) must commit to help support and maintain the beehive as the “Bee Mentor.”
5. There must be an individual at the school or organization who is the designated “Bee Advocate.”
