Grants of $1,000 to small businesses in eligible cities for retrofitting projects, rental assistance, personal protective equipment, and screening tools. Funding is intended to strengthen local small businesses in the wake of the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. Eligible applicants are located in the cities of Kennewick, Pasco, and Richland.

Winners will select one of three SBIP award packages:

  1. Retrofit Grant – Install new safety equipment and/or modify existing facilities with plexiglass, hand washing stations, no-touch doors, walk-up windows, etc.
  2. Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and screening tools – Purchase masks, gloves, hand sanitizer, disinfectant wipes, thermometers, etc.
  3. Rent Assistance – Rent due directly to landlord.

SBIP Program Requirements:
- Applicants must be in good standing and remain so through 2020
- Applicants must be a member of the Tri-City Regional Chamber of Commerce
- Applicants must have been in business for at least 18 months as of 7/9/2020
- Applicants must have at least 30 or less full-time employees
- Applicants must have reported 2019 revenue of less than $3 million
- Applicants must be organized for-profit

Pre-Application Information:

2020 SBIP applications will be accepted from 8 AM, Thursday, July 9th, through 5 PM, Friday, July 31st.

In an effort to provide value and streamline the process during this challenging time:
- Applications (which meet all criteria) will be numbered and entered into a drawing,
- 30 winners will be selected by random drawing on August 12th via Zoom at 1:30 PM,
- 30 winners will select one of three $1,000 SBIP award packages.

If selected, your reimbursement can be applied for purchases made after August 12th. Qualified applicants will receive their drawing number as well as an invitation to register for the live drawing via email.
