Grants of up to $5,000 to Washington school districts, nonprofit organizations, and government and public agencies in eligible regions for initiatives that address racial equity in underserved communities. Funding is intended for organizational capacity-building as well as policy and systems reform efforts to improve racial, economic, health, and social outcomes. The funding source encourages public and private sector partnerships for social change. Funding will be awarded to activities that benefit Snohomish County residents.

The Foundation encourages and will prioritize grant applications submitted from BIPOC, immigrant, and refugee-led nonprofits. The Foundation also encourages nonprofits that lead with lived experience to apply.

Grants could support the following:

  • Internal training for boards and staff
  • Community engagement and outreach
  • Legal services
  • Policy analysis and development
  • Training and education
  • Collaboration and partnership efforts
  • Research and evaluation

The grant range is $500 to $5,000.

Additional Eligibility Criteria:

School districts, nonprofits, cities and public agencies serving Snohomish County residents may apply.

The Foundation’s grantmaking program funds organizations that deliver programs to people living in Snohomish County. It will consider requests from organizations based outside of Snohomish County as long as the organization is substantially working to build a healthy, vibrant community and to improve the quality of life of long-term and permanent Snohomish County residents.

The Foundation does fund faith-based organizations if activities address the needs of the wider community without regard to religious beliefs. It does not fund religious activities or organizations that require religious activity as a condition of receiving services. it does not fund organizations that “further religious doctrine”— for instance, have as its primary goal or one of its primary goals to further a specific religious belief.

Nonprofits without 501(c)(3) status or a fiscal sponsor cannot be considered for funding.

The Foundation does not award grants to individual schools, including PTA organizations with 501(c)(3) status.

Capital expenses, direct services and programs are not considered for funding for this grant.
