Request a Grant Writer

Grants of up to $50,000 to USA nonprofit organizations and private volunteer groups for creative and innovative programs that improve the quality of life for military service members and their families. Funding is intended for projects that benefit veterans, individuals in the reserves, active duty, or National Guard.

Programs will be evaluated based upon the following criteria:
  • Program description
  • Relevance of problem
  • Originality
  • Anticipated benefits
  • Resources
  • Community/command/volunteer support

Additional Eligibility Criteria:

501(c)3 charities, not-for-profits, and private organizations/groups comprised mostly of volunteers supporting the families of active duty, National Guard, or reserve unit(s) and/or veterans are eligible. Volunteer organizations include spouses’ clubs, chapel support groups, veterans service organizations, and PTAs among others.

Any organizations proposing programs that will affect or take place on a Department of Defense installation will be asked to present documentation that their programs are approved for operation on a Department of Defense installation by the installation commander or the commander’s designee.

Grants cannot be used to pay salaries, wages, professional fees or stipends.

Pre-Application Information:

Grant applications for 2020 must be submitted online by 11:59 pm PT on April 21. Applicants will be informed whether they were awarded or not around August. Funds will be distributed to awarded organizations around October.

The winning organizations will be recognized in a ceremony (date to be determined). The organizations may send representatives to receive their certificates and awards.
