Grants of up to $15,000 to USA artists, organizations, foundations, museums, and businesses to promote the arts of the Osage Nation and Native American Culture. This program enables Osage artists, as well as Osage-related arts-oriented organizations, to carry out a wide range of arts activities.

Priorities for Funding:

The first priority of the Osage Nation Foundation’s Arts grant program is to provide operation or program support to qualified arts organizations including theaters, symphonies, galleries, art guilds, choral societies, dance companies, writers groups and arts festivals, among others. 

The second priority of the Osage Nation Foundation’s Arts grant program is to supports arts learning and arts in education programs conducted by qualified artists.  These can be artist residencies in schools, after school summer camps, or adult arts learning classes.

The third priority of the Osage Nation Foundation’s Arts grant program is to community, civic and municipal organizations.  These programs must be conducted by qualified artists.

This program supports a wide range of artistic projects are eligible for funding in this category, but not limited to:
-Performance or a small series of performances
-Visual art exhibition
-Literary reading or series
-Discipline-specific festival
-Film or motion picture
-Community-based residency with a professional artist or ensemble
-Small-press publication or literary magazine issue
-Arts program utilizing one or more professional artists in a healthcare setting or engaging people with disabilities
-Commissioning and premiere of new work

How Applications are Evaluated:

Grant applications are reviewed by the Osage Nation Foundation’s Board of Directors. The panel will evaluate each application based on the grant guidelines and the following criteria:
-Completion of the application in its entirety and submission by the due date
-Artistic quality of proposed project or program
-Relevance to the Osage Nation, Osage People or Native American culture
-Community impact of project or program
-Organization’s overall commitment to building arts participation
-Ability to plan and implement project
-Stability and fiscal responsibility of the organization

Estimated Size of Grant:

Each qualifying individual or organization will be eligible for a matching grant up to a maximum of $15,000.

Additional Eligibility Criteria:

Applicants must be individuals, foundations, museums, businesses or organizations with a connection to an arts discipline, including but not limited to, visual arts, dance, writing, publishing, photography and arts education.

Individuals are eligible to apply for Osage Nation Foundation’s Arts Program Grants.

Funds acquired from the Osage Nation Government, its entities or its wholly owned business, may not be used as matching funds for this arts grant.

Organizations are limited to one application per calendar year. While in certain instances more than one related exhibition or performance may be included in the proposal to establish an overall audience strategy, an organizations entire season of programs cannot be funded.

All Applicants must disclose any personal or familiar relationship to employees, appointees or elected officials of the Osage Nation or its entities. If your application is for a business entity, government entity or charitable entity, a disclosure must be completed by each person with an ownership interest in the entity.

Pre-Application Information:

All grantees have to match their grant amounts dollar for dollar. The funds must come from other public or private sources. Grantees must agree in writing to return to the ONF all awarded monetary funds not expended on the approved project in the application for the grant.

Applications are due for consideration by no later than September 1 in order to be considered prior to the end of the fiscal year (September 30).
